Waterproof Reliability Test

Part Two

14+ Reliability Testing

  • Withstand Voltage Test

    A 300V/AC, 5mA test is conducted for 1 minute between the power cord and the housing.

  • Stability Test

    The product, placed on the charging base, is tested on an inclined plane at 10° to the horizontal plane. The product shall not move or overturn.

  • Noise Test

    The operating noise value is tested according to the company’s standard test requirements. The 1st mode and the 3rd mode are tested.

    After the battery is fully drained, the product is charged, and the time required for full charging is recorded.

  • Toothbrush Head Bending Resistance Test

    The product is fixed horizontally on the bending resistance tester. A test force of ≥5.0 kg is applied for 1 minute. After the test, the product is removed and the brush handle is inspected.

    • Judgment Criteria: The brush handle shall be qualified and free from deformation.

    A tension gauge is used to test the pulling force of a single bristle tuft.

    The product is fixed on the bristle wear tester and operated for 6 hours to record the bristle wear condition.

  • Brush Handle Insertion / Removal Test

    The brush handle is fixed horizontally on the insertion/removal tester.

    First, 200 insertion/removal cycles are performed with a force of 1.0–5.0 kg.

    Then, 600 insertion/removal cycles are performed in total, using 3 toothbrush heads, with 200 cycles for each head.

    • Judgment Criteria: When the brush head is facing downward, it shall not fall off. The brush head pulling force shall remain within 1.0–5.0 kgf

  • Environmental Test

    This test includes three parts:

    • The product has 5 working modes. A test fixture is used to test and record the weight value that triggers the pressure alarm in each working mode.
    • The product is placed at 60°C for 12 hours, then transferred to −20°C for 12 hours as one cycle. A total of 3 consecutive cycles are performed, for 72 hours in total. After that, the product is kept at room temperature for 4 hours.
    • The pressure alarm trigger value of each of the 5 working modes is tested again and recorded.

    After the test, there shall be no plastic cracking, no part falling off, and the product shall function normally.

  • Button Life Test

    The button switch is manually pressed 10,000 times with a force of 0.4–1.5 kgf at a frequency of 30 times per minute.

    • After the test, the button switch shall still work normally with no intermittent failure.
    • Airtightness and IPX7 tests shall also be conducted after the test.
    • Every 2,000 cycles, a vacuum test is conducted to confirm whether there is any water leakage at the button position.

  • Finished Product Life Test

    This test includes the following steps:

    • Fully charge the product. Test the operating noise value under different working modes, and test the operating frequency of the 1st and 3rd modes.
    • The product has 5 working modes. A test fixture is used to test and record the weight value that triggers the pressure alarm in each working mode.
    • Turn on the finished product and run an aging test in the 1st working mode with a 200 g load. Accumulate 50 hours of operating time. After the test, confirm that the product functions normally, then test the noise value, operating frequency, and pressure alarm value again. If the product runs out of power during the test, recharge it.
    • Turn on the finished product again and continue the aging test in the 1st working mode with a 200 g load for another 50 hours, bringing the total operating time to 100 hours. After the test, confirm that the product functions normally, then test the noise value, operating frequency, and pressure alarm value again.

Part Three

Destructive Test for Finished Product Validation

To verify whether your electric toothbrush can withstand transportation, daily handling, accidental drops, toothpaste exposure, and chemical contact, we conduct a series of destructive tests on finished products, packaging, cartons, and toothbrush heads.

These tests help reduce risks such as product damage, charging failure, packaging breakage, brush head cracking, surface peeling, and after-sales complaints.

  • 1M Drop Bare Unit Drop Test

    The toothbrush head is installed onto the handle with the brush head vertically upward. The product is dropped from a height of 1 meter in three directions: 30° left, 30° right, and vertical direction.

    • Each direction is tested 2 times, with 6 drops in total.
    • After each drop, the product function and structure are inspected.
    • Airtightness and IPX7 waterproof tests are also conducted after the drop test.

    The single product package is dropped from a height of 1 meter onto a wooden board. Six different faces of the packaging are tested, with 1 drop for each face and 6 drops in total.

  • 280 RPM Carton Vibration Test

    One full carton of packaged finished products is placed on the simulated automotive transport tester. The carton is tested at 280 rpm for 30 minutes.

    • After the test, the shipping carton, product packaging box, and printed information are inspected.
    • The carton may have compression, damage, cracking, or glue separation, but the product must not fall out of the carton.
    • The product packaging box may have slight wrinkles, but it shall not have cracking or other damage.
    • The printed text shall remain clear and easy to identify.

  • 0.7M / 10 Drops Carton Drop Test

    One full carton of packaged finished products is dropped from a height of 0.7 m onto a wooden board. The drop sequence includes one corner, three edges, and six faces, with 10 drops in total.

    • After the test, the product and packaging are inspected.
    • Product appearance damage or affected function shall be judged as NG.
    • A packaging box tear less than 20 mm is judged as OK.
    • Slight deformation or tearing of the packaging box and inner tray is also judged as OK.

    The toothbrush head is soaked in 20% regular toothpaste solution for 5 days, then placed at room temperature for 2 days.

    • After 2 days, the surface is inspected to confirm that it is in good condition.
    • There shall be no cracking, deformation, discoloration, bubbles, blistering, wrinkles, peeling, or other defects.
